Jasper Girls Win Track & Field Sectional

AAAAHeritage Hills won seven of the 16 events and Jasper only four, but the Lady Wildcats’ depth provided them with a 27 and a half point win over the Lady Patriots. Jasper claimed four seconds, Heritage Hills had only one. Southridge finished third in the team standings followed by host Perry Central, Forest Park, Northeast Dubois, Tell City, South Spencer, and Shoals. Jasper’s blue ribbon finishes were by its 3200 meter relay team of Madeline Hurst, Luci Hulsman, Hannah Welsh and Tara Cassidy, Annie Stout (400M dash), Hannah Welsh (3200M run), and Amanda Ackerman (long jump). Southridge and Forest Park each claimed one first place finish, the Lady Raiders’ Aubrey Main in the high jump, the Lady Rangers’ Taylor Tretter in the pole vault. Two records were broken, both by Heritage Hills’ Sienna Crews in the 200M dash and 800M run).

South Spencer 2 Forest Park 0

The visiting Rebels scored solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings, giving pitcher Stallings all the help he needed to complete a two-hit shutout. The Rangers’ Cronin also pitched well, allowing South Spencer only four hits. Forest Park is now 10 and 8 for the season.


Barr-Reeve 12 Southridge 5

The visiting Vikings jumped out to an 8-1 lead after four innings and never looked back. Southridge had nine hits in the game to Barr-Reeve’s 11. McKeough had a double for the Raiders. Seven Southridge errors proved costly.

Jasper 7 Pike Central 0

Olivia Knies pitched a 3-hitter as the Lady Wildcats won at Pike Central, 7-0. Knies struck out 3 and walked 3. Katelyn Hedinger was 3 for 4 and Nicole Eckert 2 for 3 to lead a 13 hit attack for Jasper. Olivia Burger and Erin Terwiske both doubled. Jasper also prevailed in the four-inning jayvee game, 3-1.

Forest Park 1 Northeast Dubois (10 innings)

Katelyn Roos’ two-out triple and Taylor Nordhoff’s RBI single produced the winning run as the Lady Rangers outlasted the Lady Jeeps, 1-0, at Forest Park. Roos was 3 for 5 for the night to lead a 9-hit attack for the winners. Taylor Bayer, who relieved starter Vanessa Lange in the third inning, struck out eight and got the win. The Rangers improve to 8 and 14.


Southridge 188 Princeton 205

Medalist Drew Dearing’s 45 led the Raiders to victory at the Huntingburg Country Club. James White led the visiting Tigers with a 47. Northeast Dubois 4 Wood Memorial 1

Dubois won two singles matches and both doubles and defeated Wood Memorial on the Dubois courts. Jenna Stemle and Stefanie Archer won the singles matches, Stemle in straight sets. The teams of Hannah Wehr and Sara Clark and Megan Archer and Megan Lueken prevailed in doubles.
