Baseball Cats Bounce Back; Jeeps’ Cayden Knies Pitches No-Hitter



Jasper 11 Vincennes Lincoln 2

After suffering their first loss of the season Tuesday at Mt. Vernon, the Wildcats bounced back with an 11-2 Big 8 Conference win over Vincennes Lincoln Wednesday night at Ruxer Field. Jasper broke a 2-2 tie with a three runs in the third inning and then added four more in the fourth enroute to their 20th win of the season. Austin Alles led the Jasper offense with a 2-run homer in the first inning. The Wildcats, now 20-1, will host the Jasper Hall of Fame Classic Friday and Satursday at Ruxer Field.

Northeast Dubois 17 Springs Valley 1

Cayden Knies pitched a 5-inning no-hitter as the Jeeps rolled over Springs Valley, 17-1, at French Lick. Knies struck out three and walked one. Parker Zehr led a 13-hit attack for the winners with a double, two singles, and five RBI.

Southridge 5 Evansville Mater Dei 3

Luke Stetter pitched a complete game 5-hitter and Southridge closed out its regular season home schedule Wednesday with a 5-3 win over Evansville Mater Dei at League Stadium. The Raiders  improve to 16-7. They play their final regular season game tonight at Tell City.


Jasper 4 Evansville Central 3

Jasper snapped a 3-3 tie with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and then held on for a 4-3 victory over Evansville Central Wednesday at Jasper. The visiting Bears had two runners on with no outs in the top of the third inning when Olivia Knies came on to replace starting pitcher Anna Edwards. Central scored one run before Knies stopped the rally. She allowed no runs and held the Lady Bears hitless the rest of the way, striking out seven and walking one. Jasper also won the JV game, 7-2.
