Mt. Vernon Hands Jasper First Baseball Loss, 1-0
Mt. Vernon 1 Jasper 0 (12 innings)
Mt. Vernon ended 2nd-ranked Jasper’s 19 game win streak Monday at Mt. Vernon. A bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 12th inning gave the home standing Wildcats the victory. Mt. Vernon’s Logan Brown opened the 12th with a single and later scored the winning run. Mt. Vernon right-hander Cody Mobley pitched eight scoreless inning and struck out 13 Jasper batters before turning things over to relievers Bryan Hensley and Austin Krizan who pitched two scoreless innings and combined for seven strikeouts, giving the winners a total of 20 strikeouts. Jasper’s Cal Krueger allowed five hits and struck out seven in seven innings of work. Ben Moore relieved Krueger and pitched four scoreless innings before his walk to Brown in the bottom of the 12th. Jasper is now 19-1. Mt. Vernon is 14-4.
Forest Park 12 North Posey 1
David Lusk’s grand slam home run was the big blow in a 12-run third inning as the Rangers coasted by North Posey, 12-1, stopped by the mercy rule after five innings. Lusk finished with six RBI for the night. Trever Zink and Andy Schlachter both contributed doubles and Jaxon Cronin had two singles. Cronin was the winning pitcher allowing only three hits.
Jasper 3 Vincennes 2 (10 innings)
Courtesy running Emma Hopf scored the winning run following a dramatic collision at home plate. Olivia Knies led off the 10th with a single. Hopf ran for Knies and advanced to third on a single by Olivia Burger, who was called out at first after missing the bag. Katelyn Hedinger grounded out and Hopf had to hold at third. With two out Maria Gobert ground to the Vincennes third baseman who threw to the plate. Hopf collided with the Alices catcher, knocking the ball out of her glove, giving the Lady Wildcats the victory, Knies was the winning pitcher, allowing only four hits and striking out nine.
Southridge 3 Springs Valley 2
Southridge broke a 2-2 tie with a solo run in the top of the sixth inning. Each team had six hits in the game. Megan Stapleton was the winning pitcher for the Raiders.
Heritage Hills 12 Forest Park 5
Forest Park grabbed the early lead with solo runs in the first two innings before Heritage Hills scored five times in the third enroute to a 12 to 5 win at Bretzville. Lady Katelyn Roos homered, singled and scored two runs to lead a five hit attack for the Rangers, Jordan Voges chipped in with two singles. Forest Park is now 7 and 13 for the year. The Forest Park won the JV game, 2 to 1.
Ladies PAC Meet at Tell City
Gibson Southern 133.5, Heritage Hills 119, Southridge 111, Forest Park 91, Tell City 75, North Posey 34.5, South Spencer 30.5, Pike Central 27.5.
Gibson Southern won only three of the 16 events, but the Lady Titans’ depth lifted them to the team championship in the Pocket Athletic Conference track and field meet at Tell City. Heritage Hills, who won six events, finished second. Southridge and Forest Park finished third and fourth, respectively. Southridge claimed three blue ribbons, Forest Park and Tell City each won two. Southridge’s Aubrey Main was a triple winner, winning the 200 and 400 meter dashes and the high jump. She also finished second in the 100. Forest Park’s two victories were by Taylor Tretter in the pole vault and Morgan Tretter, Elizabeth Miller, Emma Fraze, and Sarah Pund in th 800 meter relay.

North Knox won team honors and Northeast Dubois finished a close second Monday in the girls Blue Chip Conference track and field meet at North Knox. The Lady Jeeps posted two first place wins – Jessica Kahle in the 800 meter run and Kahle, Ashton Knies, Maddy Laux, and Kelli Reutman in the1600 meter relay. Barr-Reeve’s Natalie Graber set a new PAC record in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:46.10.
