Othmar W. Sander, 72, Ireland
Othmar W. Sander, 72, of Ireland, died Sunday (May 10) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. He was born in Ireland September 2, 1942, to William and Helen (Miller) Sander. He married Mildred Elmer August 8, 1964, in St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Siberia.
Othmar was a member of the Indiana National Guard. Othmar was part owner of JOJ Sander Incorporated for 50 years. He previously worked for Jasper Lumber Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and a past member of the Ireland Sportsman Club. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Sander; two daughters, Donna Betz and husband Myron, Schnellville, and Judy Herzog, Jasper; four sons, Harold Sander, Mark Sander and wife Tonya, and Brian Sandler, all of Ireland, and Stanley Sander, Jasper; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Wehr and husband, Richard, and Cathy Schnarr and husband, Daniel, all of Jasper; four brothers, James Sander, Ireland, Charlie Sander and wife, Jackie, Oakland City, and Kenny Sander and wife, Kathy, and Jerry Sander and wife, Sharon, all of Jasper.
Services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
