Jeeps Edge Linton in Walkoff Baseball Thriller; Southridge Posts Softball and Tennis Victories
Northeast Dubois 4 Linton 3
Cayden Knies’ 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Jeeps to a 4 to 3 walkoff win over the Linton Miners Thursday at Dubois. It was Dubois’ first lead in the game. Evan Bauer had a double and single and Nolan Rasche two singles to lead a nine-hit attack for the Jeeps. Jacob Gress, who pitched the first five innings, was the winning pitcher. He allowed six hits and struck out four. Jason Denu pitched the last two innings, allowing no runs and only one hit.
Southridge 14 Wood Memorial 6
Down 6-5 after six innings of play the Lady Raiders erupted for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to seal off a 14 to 6 win Thursday at Oakland City. Vrianna Lammers, Meagn Stapleton, and Kasidy Mundy each had doubles to lead Southridge’s 14-hit performance. Mundy was also the winning pitcher, improving to 2 and 3 for the season. Wood Memorial’s 10 errors contributed to the Southridge win.
North Knox 6 Northeast Dubois 5
A seventh inning rally by the Lady Jeeps fell one run short Thursday as they dropped a Blue Chip Conference game, to North Knox, at Dubois. They trailed the Lady Warriors, 6 to 2, heading into the bottom of the seventh and rallied for three runs before losing, 6-5. Kendra Jacob led the Northeast offense with a double, single, and one RBI, Clare Mangin added two singles. The Lady Jeeps are now 4 and 11 for the season.
Heritage Hills 4 Northeast Dubois 1
Northeast Dubois’ Jenna Stemle prevailed in No. 1 singles, but Heritage Hills won team honors, 4-1, on the Jeeps’ home court Thursday. Stemle prevailed over the Patriots’ Meridith Balbach in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

Southridge 184 Tell City (no team score)
The Raiders posted a Pocket Athletic Conference golf victory they couldn’t lose Thursday at the Huntingburg Country Club. The Marksmen played with only three golfers and were not eligible to compile a team score, so the Raiders’ 184 total was more than enough. Tell City salvaged medalist honors thanks to Mason Waninger’s three-over-par 38. Drew Dearing led Southridge with a 40.
