Helen M. Oser, 90, Jasper
Helen M. Oser, 90, of Jasper, died Thursday (May 7) at his home. She was born March 1, 1925, to Henry T. and Velvia (Bufkin) Skaggs. She married Carl Oser September 25, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died May 25, 1996.
Helen was a clerk for Jasper and Chicago, Clairmont, and E.H. Hamilton truck lines. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the St. Ann’s Society, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and volunteering at St. Joseph’s Church where she was on the Bereavement Committee, counted collections, and stuffed bulletins. She also volunteered at the Dubois County Community Food Bank.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Oser and wife Patty, Jasper, and Rick Oser and wife Tammy, Indianapolis; one daughter, Julie Aldridge and husband, John, Radcliff, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Hochgesang, three brothers, three brothers, Irvin, Raymond, and Bobby Skaggs, and four sisters, Iola Ferguson, Mildred Rohlman, Juanita Perkins, and Geneva Lannan.
Services at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m.at the funeral home. The D.A.V.
