New Poll iPads Being Put To The Test Today (AUDIO)

POLL PADJASPER (NNDC) – Today, of course, is primary election day across Indiana and here in Dubois County.

Voter turnout at 1pm about 8% according to Dubois County Clerk Bridgette Jarboe; about average for a sparsely contested municipal election.

This is also the first election that the county is using new electronic poll iPads. The poll iPads allow county clerks like Jarboe to monitor the polls from a central location like the Dubois County courthouse for information like voter turnout.

Jarboe says the poll pads which are at polling locations also help poll workers make sure voters are where they are supposed to be…

There are only three municipal primaries being contested today… two in Jasper… one in Huntingburg… all three on the GOP ticket.

First-term Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz is up against Steve Messmer, a local businessman in the GOP Jasper mayoral primary. Also in Jasper, John Bell and Scott Blazey are seeking the Republican nomination for the city council District 3 seat that will be vacated by incumbent Republican Dave Prechtel at the end of the year.

And in Huntingburg, first-term District 2 city councilman Alex Blackgrove is being challenged by fellow Republican Jeff Bounds.

The polls close at 6pm.   Check with NewsNow Dubois County at www.NewsNowDC.com or via our FACEBOOK or TWITTER pages for election results after the polls close.
