Jasper Reds Remain Undefeated, Will Host Owensboro this Upcoming Sunday at Ruxer Field

Jasper (NNDC):  The Jasper Reds (3-0) picked up a huge win on Saturday at Ruxer Field as they hosted the Nashville Cubs.   The Cubs came to town with an impressive 9-0 record and looking to remain undefeated.   The Reds entered the contest at 2-0 and also looking to keep their record unblemished.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning, Jasper went to work and started chipping away at the Cubs lead.   Eli Knust, Ben Lambert and Bricen Russell led the charge in the comeback as Lambert went deep in the 5th and Russell had 3 hits including a solo shot in the 7th inning.    Knust also had 3 hits in the game including 2 doubles and a single.  His second double drove in the go ahead run for the Reds.

Jasper picks up a 4-3 win over previously undefeated Nashville and sends the Cubs home with their first loss of the season.   Veteran righthander Bo Daves picked up the win on the hill for the Reds.   Daves allowed 7 hits, had 5 strikeouts, walked 2 (1 intentionally) and hit one batter. With the win, the Jasper Reds are now 3-0 on the season and will host the Owensboro Hardballers in a double header on Sunday at 2:30pm.

Jasper Reds Win Battle of Dubois County Teams in Bluegrass World Series

Louisville (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds snagged an early lead over the Dubois County Bombers and held on to pick up a 4-0 win.   The Reds plated one run in the bottom of the first on a groundout by Garret Camp, scoring Austin Simmers.    Jasper tagged on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning as Jacob Lents and Lawan Rollins crossed the plate and the 4th and final run came in the third as Devan Franz scored.

Kevin Davis took the loss for the Bombers as he went two innings, allowed three runs on four hits and walking one.  The winning pitcher for the Jasper Reds was 35 year old right hander Donnie Johnson.  He went five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs, while striking out three.   Devan Franz also had a strong outing for the Reds as he started the game and went four innings, allowing zero runs on two hits while striking out five in his four innings of work.

The Reds were led in hitting by Austin Simmers with a 3 for 5 effort which included a triple in the 4th inning.  Garrett Camp added a double in the 7th for Jasper.    Evan Kahre, Cooper Trinkle, Nolan Ramsey, Chase Anderson and John McDonald each collected one hit for the Dubois County Bombers.

Despite the loss for Dubois County, they will advance to the Championship Game on Saturday evening at Slugger Field.   Game time is set for 6pm and their opponent is the Louisville Stars.   The Stars feature former MLB All-Stars and World Series Champions including newly inducted Hall of Famer Chipper Jones, Johnny Damon and J.D. Drew to name a few.   The Stars coaching staff feature some big names as well including Hall of Famer Johnny Bench.


Dubois County Bombers Win Again in Bluegrass World Series, Will Face Jasper Reds on Friday

Louisville (NNDC) – The Dubois County Bombers remain undefeated in pool play at the Bluegrass World Series with a 10-2 drubbing of the Westchase Express.   A huge day by Nolan Ramsey as he led the Bombers to victory.   Ramsey had five RBI’s on the day including a homerun in the 6th inning.   The Bombers got on the board early with three runs in the first which was fueled by a two RBI double by Ramsey in the first inning.  Dubois County added two more runs in the 2nd inning and one more in the 4th to jump out to a 6-0 lead over Westchase.   The Express plated their 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning before the Bombers added to their lead scoring 2 more in the bottom of the frame.   Dubois County would add two more runs in the 8th and cruise to the 10-2 victory.

The Bombers picked up twelve hits on the day with Tanner Craig and Nolan Ramsey leading the charge with three hits apiece.  Peyton Mattingly had two hits of his own.    Reece Kleinhelter picked up the win for the Bombers after going two innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out two.

The Bombers return to action today (Friday) and will face the Jasper Reds.   First pitch is set for 3:30pm at Slugger Field.

Jasper Reds Drop 2nd Game at Bluegrass World Series, will Face Dubois County Bombers on Friday

Louisville (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds saw their season record drop to 18-2 on the season following an 11-3 loss against the Sterling X-Press in the Bluegrass World Series.    Jasper faced struggles on the offensive side of the ball as well as defensively.    The Reds pitching allowed 7 walks early in the game which allowed the Colorado based Sterling X-Press team to jump out to an 8-3 lead.   Jasper was able to plate 3 runs but lost several opportunities on the basepaths as 3 runners were picked off and another was called out for leaving the base too early after tagging up on a fly out.   Offensively Josh Weidenbenner, Devan Franz and LaWan Rollins led Jasper with 2 hits apiece.

Jasper will close out the 2018 season on Friday as they face the Dubois County Bombers at Slugger Field with a first pitch set for 3:30pm.   The last time these two teams faced off was on May 31st, 2011 in an exhibition game with the Jasper Reds picking up the 2-1 win behind a complete game from Bo Daves.

The Jasper Reds are currently 0-2 in the Bluegrass World Series following their Monday loss to the Louisville Stars and Wednesdays loss to Sterling.   The Dubois County Bombers are currently 1-0 in the tournament and will face the Westchase Express on Thursday night at 7pm.   The Bombers defeated the Sterling X-Press on Tuesday night to earn that win.

Jasper Reds have Strong Outing against Former MLB Stars in Bluegrass World Series

Louisville (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds took the field on Monday night at Slugger Field in Louisville as part of the inaugural Bluegrass World Series with a large task at hand.    Their opponent (Louisville Stars) was comprised of former MLB Stars who still play the game at a very high level.    The Stars featured the likes of Johnny Damon, Jason Marquis and J.D. Drew to name a few.

Jasper entered the game just one week removed from finishing their regular season with an impressive 18-0 record.   Bo Daves took the mound for the Reds with a 5-0 mark.   Daves held the Stars scoreless until the bottom of the 2nd inning when Louisville plated one but the big blow came in inning number 4 as the Louisville Stars sent three runs across the plate including a two run shot by Corky Miller.   Louisville would add one more run to the tally in the bottom of the 8th and held Jasper scoreless in the 9th giving the MLB stars a 5-0 win.

Bo Daves (5-1) took the loss for Jasper and Jason Marquis picked up the win for the Louisville Stars.   The Reds finished the game with no runs on 5 hits and no errors.   Louisville had 5 runs on 7 hits and no errors.   Jasper returns to action in the Bluegrass World Series on Wednesday afternoon with a 3:30pm tilt against the FCSL Futures team.   The Louisville Stars also return to action on Wednesday with a 7pm start against the Hattiesburg Black Sox.

Jasper Reds and Dubois County Bombers Participate in Inaugural Bluegrass World Series

Dubois County (NNDC) – Two local baseball teams have a big week ahead as they are participating in the Bluegrass World Series in Louisville.    The Jasper Reds and Dubois County Bombers have atleast 3 games on their schedules for the week.   Most games are being played at Slugger Field and will feature some impressive talent.   The Louisville Stars are the headline team and feature former MLB Stars including the newly inducted Hall of Fame Member Chipper Jones.   The Stars are coached by Johnny Bench and other players include Johnny Damon, Roy Oswalt and Josh Becket.  Collectively the Louisville Stars account for 20 World Series Championships, 68 All-Star appearances and 2 Hall of Famers.

The Jasper Reds will take the field on Monday night at Slugger Field and face the Louisville Stars in their first game.  Bo Daves (5-0) will take the mound for the undefeated Reds who finished their regular season at 18-0.  First pitch is set for 7pm.   Jasper will also see action on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm Eastern as they will face the FCSL Futures team.   The FCSL is a league that is partially funded by Major League Baseball.   The Reds will also play on Friday morning against the Hattiesburg Black Sox.   Depending on how the Reds finish in pool play, they may also return for a Saturday game at Slugger Field.

The Dubois County Bombers just finished up an another impressive year with the 2nd best record in the Ohio Valley League.   After a rocky start to the 2018 season, the Bombers finished very strong and had a 27-19 record.   Dubois County bowed out of OVL tournament play with a 6-3 loss to eventual league champion, Owensboro RiverDawgs.  Dubois County will face the Westface Express on Tuesday night at Slugger Field with game time set for 7pm Eastern.  The Bombers will return to action on Thursday night as they face Sterline X-press.   Dubois County will face OVL foe Hoptown on Friday and depending on how the Bombers finish in pool play, they may also play on Saturday.

Jasper Reds Finish Regular Season Undefeated, First Time in 125 Year History

Jasper (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds finished up their regular season on Thursday night at Ruxer Field with a 10-0 win over the Terre Haute Red Sox.   That win solidified the teams first ever undefeated season in their 125 year history.  Devan Franz picked up the win for the Reds allowing only 2 hits in his five innings of work.  Franz struck out nine and walked three as he improved his record to 2-0 on the season.   Kris Weisheit and Ben Lambert worked 2 innings each of hitless relief.   Jasper had 13 hits in the game and was led by Austin Simmers who had 3 hits.   Austin Alles homered in the 2nd inning and added a single, LaWan Rollins tripled while Jacob Lents and Ben Lambert each picked up doubles.

The Jasper Reds finish up the regular season with an 18-0 record.

The Reds will now head to Louisville’s Slugger Field to participate in the inaugural Bluegrass World Series.   Jasper will play the Louisville Stars, a team comprised of former MLB stars.  The Reds will then continue pool play on Wednesday at Slugger Field as they will face the Florida Collegiate Summer League champion.   That league receives operating funds from Major League Baseball.    On Friday, the Reds will travel to University of Louisville’s Patterson Field to meet Hattiesburg MS.   If Jasper wins or finish in second place in their pool, they will return to Slugger Field for a game next Saturday.

Jasper Reds Regular Season Finale Set for Thursday

Jasper (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds will close out their regular season on Thursday evening with a 7pm start at Ruxer Field.    The Terre Haute Red Sox will visit Jasper and attempt to do what no other team this season has been able to do and that’s pick up a win over the Reds.   Jasper heads into Thursday nights game at 17-0 on the season.

All fans in attendance will have an opportunity to win 4 box seats to the upcoming Bluegrass World Series.   The inaugural tournament at Slugger Field in Louisville will feature several teams including the Louisville Stars which is made up of former MLB Stars including Chipper Jones, Johnny Damon, JD Drew among others.   The Louisville Stars are coached by legends including Johnny Bench.   Jasper will play the Stars on Monday night, July 30th.    While attending Jaspers last game on Thursday night against Terre Haute, sign up to win free tickets.

Jasper Reds Hold Annual Reunion, Dubois County Bombers Fall to Henderson,

Dubois County (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds held their 26th annual reunion on Saturday at the Jaycee Clubhouse in what has turned out to be a record setting year for the Reds.    Earlier this week, Jasper set a new team record for consecutive wins to start the season by defeating the Owensboro Bombers 5-3 at Ruxer.   The Reds committed 6 errors in the game.  Bo Daves picked up his 5th win of the season while allowing 8 hits and striking out 8.   Two of the three Owensboro runs were earned which were the first two earned runs of the season given up by Daves.   Noah Luebbehusen and Jacob Lents contributed doubles to Jaspers 7 hit attack.   The Reds will return to action today (Sunday) as they host the Louisville Black Sox in a doubleheader at Ruxer Field.   First pitch is set for 3pm.

In other Dubois County sports action, the Dubois County Bombers fall to the Henderson Flash forcing a game 3 of the 1st round playoff series.   The Bombers got things started off in the first inning when John McDonald singled on a 3-2 count scoring one run.  Dubois County plated another in the 2nd inning while Henderson tied the game at two in the bottom of the third.   The Bombers took the lead in the top of the fifth inning before Henderson took the lead for good by scoring three in the bottom of the inning and it was a lead they would not relinquish.   Trailing 5-3 heading into the 9th inning, Dubois County did attempt a comeback and scored a run but it wasn’t enough as Henderson knocked off Dubois County 5-4 to force a deciding game 3 in the OVL playoffs.

Evan Sankey took the loss for Dubois County.  He surrendered five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out two.  Nick Gonzalez led the Bombers with a 3 for 5 effort at the plate as Dubois County tallied 10 hits on the game.

The best of three first round series will wrap up tonight (Sunday) at League Stadium in Huntingburg with the winner advancing and the losing team closing out the season.


Jasper Reds Preparing for Matchup with MLB Stars in Bluegrass World Series

Jasper (NNDC) – The Jasper Reds are off to a 16-0 start on the season as they prepare for their 26th annual Reds reunion which takes place this Saturday morning at the Jasper Jaycee Clubhouse.   The reunion will start at 11am Eastern and will feature baseball memorabilia from previous Reds teams.    Refreshments will also be available and the public is welcome.
