Robert S. “Bud” Tennant, 80, Jasper

Robert S. “Bud” Tennant, 80, of Jasper, died Wednesday, April 15, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan, April 20, 1939, to Robert and Mary (Stilwell) Tennant. He married Margaret “Peggy” Preston March 25, 1961, at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York. She died December 9, 2015.

Bud served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, stationed at Sidi Slamaim Air Force Base in Morocco. He was a member of American Legion Post 147 in Jasper. He worked as a substation operator for Detroit Edison Power Company. He attended First Baptist Church In Jasper, was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years, and enjoyed spending time at the Habig Senior Center, fishing, computers, playing cards, ham radio, electronics, and model cars and trains.

He is survived by two sons, James “Jim” Tennant and wife Donna, Jasper, and Dr. Robert “Rob” Tennant and wife Lisa, Kileen, Texas; two grandchildren, Charles “Charlie” and Leah Min Tennant; one step grandchild, Lindsey Newlin; four step great-grandchildren, Aiden, Beau, Briggs, and Deacon Newlin; one step-brother,Bob Houvener; one sister-in-law, Marion Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, James Elwood Tennant.

Private funeral services will be held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper with burial following in Oakland Hills Memorial Garden in Novi, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
