Robert William “Bill” Maitlen, 71, Jasper

Robert William “Bill” Maitlen, 71, of Jasper, died Tuesday, March 24, at his home. He was born in Winchester September 10, 1948, to  Charles and Gladys (McIntyre) Maitlen. He married Lynn Janney December 7, 1974, at Normal City United Methodist Church in Muncie.

Bill was a graduate of Earlham, Ball State, and the American University of the Caribbean where he attained his Doctorate of Medicine. He opened his own practice in Connersville prior to joining Jasper Family Physicians in 1993. He practiced in Jasper for 23 years and retired in 2016. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, listening to music, and car rides, especially driving his 1968 Corvette.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Maitlen; one daughter Vanna Lauer and husband Branden, Huntingburg; three sons, Steve Maitlin and wife Anji, Princeton, and Eric and Doug Maitlin, both of Jasper; one sister, Lynda Burns and husband Virgil, Greenville, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Abby, Corey, Samantha, Dalylah, Jaxin, Axl, and Mya.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Tom Maitlen, and one sister, Mary Alyce Ford.

Private funeral services were held at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper followed by burial in Shiloh Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
