Joan L. Fuhrman, 91, Jasper

Joan L. Fuhrman, 91, of Jasper, died Saturday, February 1, at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper March 29, 1928, to Fred and Louise (Neukam) Stamm. She married Dallas G. Fuhrman October 25, 1949, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois. He died February 4, 1974.

Joan was a 1936 graduate of Dubois High School, where she was a cheerleader. She retired in 1993 from Jasper Wood Products, where she worked for a number of years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, VFW Post 673 Auxiliary, and American Legion Post 147 Auxiliary. She participated in the Jasper Singing Seniors in recent years and enjoyed quilting and following Jasper High School and Northeast Dubois sports.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Fuhrman and wife Cindy, Liberty Township, Ohio, and Jim Fuhrman and wife Charlene, Ireland; three grandchildren, Jessica Sorosiak and husband Eric, Nicole Cameron and husband Joe, and Daniel Fuhrman; three great-grandchildren, Cayden and Brynn Sorosiak and Payton Cameron; one sister, Norma Jean Blackgrave, Jasper; and sisters-in-law Mary Ann Fuhrman, Jasper, and Sylvia Stamm, Evansville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Sylvester, Kenneth, Griffen, and Richard “Dick” Stamm, and two sisters, Loretta Eisenhut and Jennifer Collins.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Redeemer Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Haysville. Pastor Adam Ruschau will officiate.
