Sylvester Lindauer, 78, St. Meinrad

Sylvester Lindauer, 78, of St. Meinrad, died Wednesday, January 8, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in St. Meinrad January 7, 1942, to Hugo and Lucille (Wiederkehr) Lindauer. He married Myrna Feltner April 20, 1963, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

Syl was a retired coal miner. He also worked at St. Meinrad Co-Op and drove a school bus for many years. He served in the National Guard and was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion and  St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He enjoyed construction work, farming, tractors, and playing cards with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna Lindauer; two sons, Robert Lindauer and wife Gucci, Everett, Washington and Mark Lindauer and wife Angela, Norfolk, Virginia; two daughters, LaDonna Mathena and husband Kirk and Brenda Boehm and husband Tim, all of Ferdinand; one sister, Rosie Bender and husband Werner, Jasper; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Lindauer, and one sister, Marion Harpenau.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at St. Meinrad Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfunerlhome.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rites.
