Marian Hopf, 89, Jasper

Marian Hopf, 89, of Jasper, died Saturday, January 11, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in St. Anthony December 3, 1930, to Clement and Catherine (Haas) Hasenour. She married Thomas A. Hopf April 21, 1951, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony.

Marian worked with her husband Tom on the family farm and home construction. She was also secretary and treasurer for Americana Woodworking, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and its St. Anne’s Society, and VFW Post 673. She enjoyed flower and landscape gardening, quilting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hopf; two sons, Gary Hopf and wife Sara and Stephen Hopf and wife Julie, all of Jasper; one daughter, Sharon Sander and husband Jerry, Jasper; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, LaVerne Begle and husband Hilary, Ferdinand, and Kathy Kluemper and husband Don, Huntingburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Alan Hopf, three sisters, Dorothy Mae Blessinger, Dolores Wehr, and Margie Rasche, and three brothers, Jerome “Romie,” Allen, and Robert L. Hasenour.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The St. Anne’s Sodality will lead a rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. VFW Post 673 will conduct a memorial services at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity.
