Dorothy M. Hasenour, 70, Huntingburg

Dorothy M. Hasenour, 70, of Huntingburg, died Saturday, December 21, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Dubois September 9, 1949, Anthony J. and Clara  A. (Seger) Hasenour.

Dorothy was a 1967 graduate of Dubois High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and her Masters in Nursing Education from the University of Evansville. She was a registered nurse, the In-Service Director, and Director of Nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg. In 1984 she was instrumental in starting and teaching the nursing program at Vincennes University in Jasper. She then worked in renal dialysis in Jasper until she retired in 2012. She  owned and operated Winning Apparel in Huntingburg from 1984 until 2013. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. She participated and was a member of various boards and organizations, including ones associated with VUJC, The American Nurses Association, and the Huntingburg Merchants. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and spending time with family.

She is survived by one sister, Irene Van Kersen and husband Philip, Morehead, Kentucky;  two brothers, George Hasenour and wife Patty amd James Hasenour, all of Dubois; two nieces, Laura Balsmeyer and Elizabeth Franzini; and two nephews, Philip Van Kersen and Brian Hasenour.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis J. Hasenour.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Memorial Hospital Nursing Honor Guard will perform a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
