Old Swiss Building in Tell City Burns to the Ground

Tell City (NNDC):

No injuries are reported after the Old Swiss Plywood building in Tell City caught fire Wednesday.

Tell City Police say reports of the fire came in around 11 am. Fire crews, from Dubois County and emergency medical services, and police departments from southern Indiana all joined forces to fight the blaze.

Authorities think the fire initially started in the far south end of the building but quickly became widespread.

The Tell City Police Assistant Chief and Public Information Officer, the building was built back in the 1800s and owned by the Tell City Port Authority at the time of the fire. The building was kept busy with softball practices and club meetings and other events.

Local officials are looking to the future for building a new and eve better facility as the fire completely destroyed the old building.
