Mary Catherine Mehringer, 91, Jasper

Mary Catherine Mehringer, 91, of Jasper, died Friday, December 6, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born in Jasper July 14, 1928, to William and Rose (Schroering) Brosmer. She married Claude J. Mehringer November 8, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died September 4, 1964.

Mary Catherine retired from Jasper Woodworking, where she worked in the office for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church where she was a member of its St. St. Anne’s Sodality and served as a Stephen Minister and was a member of the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella where she organized the monthly Bingo at the Providence Home for 45 years. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community and was a member of the Dubois County Right to Life. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Diane Verkamp and husband Charlie, Schnellville, Martha Keusch and husband Kevin, Ireland, and Trish Mehringer and husband Dan, Jasper; three sons, Stan Mehringer and wife Mary Jane, Teague, Texas, and  Glen Mehringer and wife Marcia and Mark A. Mehringer, all of Jasper; son-in-law Bob Scherle, Crystal; 20 grandchildren;  24 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Brosmer and wife Ramona and Alf Brosmer, all of Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Scherle, four sisters, Lillian Fromme, Anna Mae DeMotte, Betty Brosmer, and Martha Brosmer, who died in infancy; and four brothers, Romie, Harold, Tom, and James Brosmer, who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. The St. Joseph St. Anne’s Sodality and the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church, Dubois County Right to Life, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held  at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
