Charles J. Durcholz, 88, Ireland

Charles J. Durcholz, 88, of Ireland, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Ireland December 26, 1930, to Carl and Marie (Bleemel) Durcholz. His first marriage was to Rita M. Rasche on October 27, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She died August 8, 1983. He then married Eugenia “Dolly” Prohaska July 7, 1984. She died March 15, 2003.

Charlie was a 1949 graduate of Ireland High School. He was a farmer and a grain bin salesman, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the Ireland Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper Moose. He enjoyed playing cards, riding motorcycles, and cooking.

He is survived by one son, Randal “Randy” Durcholz and wife Sue, Duff; three daughters, Janice Durcholz, Petersburg, Carol Schetter and husband Eugene, Arlington, Texas, and Sarah Helms and husband Mark, Jasper; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rita Dall and husband Art and JoAnn Lechner, all of Jasper, Ruth Small and husband Alan, Ireland, and Dottie Mack and husband Ron, Indianapolis; and one brother, Ed Durcholz and wife Mary, Ireland.

In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth “Kenny” Durcholz, three sisters, MaryLou Lechner, Rosie Cole, and Angeline Schwoeppe, and two brothers, Cletus and Rich Durcholz.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Mary’s Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Jasper River Walk Memorial for Charlie. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery..
