William J. “Bill” Kleinhelter, 77, Celestine

William J. “Bill” Kleinhelter, 77, of Celestine, died Thursday, November 28, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Celestine May 28, 1942, to Hubert and Adele (Merkley) Kleinhelter. He married Betty A. Fetter November 30, 1963, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill.

Bill retired from Wabash Valley Produce after many years of service. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish  – St. Celestine Catholic Church, the Good Shepard of the Hills Knights of Columbus, and the Celestine Community Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching old westerns, reading old western books, watching Indiana University basketball, his grandkids sporting events, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Kleinhelter; three daughters, Annette Jones and husband Gary, Santa Claus, Ashley Schwenk and husband Ryan, Ireland, and Heather Terwiske and husband Joel, Dubois; two sons, Terry Kleinhelter and wife Jan, Celestine, and Tom Kleinhelter and wife Angie, Jasper; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Barb Knies, Celestine; and one brother, John Kleinhelter and wife Pam, Jacksonville, Florida.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters who passed in childbirth and his godfather, Lawrence Kleinhelter.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
