Mary C. Schulte, 90, Jasper

Mary C. Schulte, 90, of Jasper, died Monday, September 23, at Brookside Village in Jasper. She was born in Ferdinand August 11, 1929, to Jerome “Harry” and Charlotte (Reutman) Gehlhausen. She married Bernard T. Schulte October 19, 1948, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. He died December 16, 1990.

Mary was a homemaker and worked at Decora for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. She enjoyed working puzzles, flowers, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by five daughters, Kathy Renner and husband Arnie, Ireland, Cindy Sternberg and husband Paul and Bobbie Schulte, all of Jasper; Brenda Nord and husband Randy, Louisville, and Geri Bohnert and husband Brian, Schnellville; one son, Mark Schulte and wife Ann, Jasper; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Vitiello, Jeffersontown, Kentucky.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Harriet Fischer, Charlotte “Butsy” Klueh, and Eugenia “Dolly” Durcholz, and four brothers, Jerome, Charlie, Herbert, and Eugene Gehlhausen.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at St. Joseph’s Parish will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
