Bertram “Bucky” Hollinden, 90, St. Henry

Bertram “Bucky” Hollinden, 90, of St. Henry, died Tuesday, September 17, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Ferdinand February 25, 1929, to Alfred J. “Fatty” and Mary (Leonard) Hollinden. He married Dorothy Kapp June 2, 1956, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.

Bucky was retired from North American Corporation where he was a hammersmith for 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and Christ the King Parish, St. Henry Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Hollinden; six sons, Dennis Hollinden and wife Maria, Falls Church Virginia., Linus Hollinden, St. Henry, Thomas Hollinden and wife Beth, Huntingburg, David Hollinden and wife Terri, Ireland, Daniel Hollinden, Jasper, and Leo Hollinden and wife Janelle, St. Henry; one daughter, Jane Mehling and husband Richard, Huntingburg; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred L. Hollinden, and one sister, Thelma Hancock.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Church. Online condolences can be shared at Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department or St. Henry Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites.
