Carol Jean Wilgus, 61, Ferdinand

Carol Jean Wilgus, 61, of Ferdinand, died Thursday, September 12, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Jasper March 5, 1958, to Paul E. and Clara (Lamar) Wilgus.

Carol was a 1976 graduate of Forest Park High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in paralegal services from Kaplan University (magna cum laude). She enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles, coloring, and studying the Bible.

She is survived by her mother, Clara Wilgus, Ferdinand; five sisters, Patti Bos and husband Maarten, Sarasota, Florida, Mona Elder and husband Kenny, Tell City, Terry Brinker, Evansville, Sandy Waninger and husband Tony, Fulda, and Marci Hansen and husband Michael, Ferdinand;  two brothers, Rick Wilgus and wife Tonya, Evansville, and Ron Wilgus and wife Shelly, Schnellville; and her caregivers, Denise Schnell, Jasper, and Ruth Sickbert and Angie Rahman, both of Ferdinand.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul E. Wilgus, her grandparents, Chester and Agnes (Hagedorn) Wilgus and Irwin and Gertrude (Bergman) Lamar, brother-in-law Bill Brinker, and one great-nephew.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.
