Frank J. Lamkin, 88, Ferdinand

Frank J. Lamkin, 88, of Ferdinand, died Wednesday, September 11, at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg October 16, 1930, to Preston and Lorraine (Blessinger) Lamkin. He married Cyrilla Ruhe April 28, 1956, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. She died February 15, 2012.

Frank was co-founder of Mobel Incorporated in Ferdinand. He was a member of Christ the King Parish – St. Ferdinand Church, Huntingburg YMI, Ferdinand Civic Improvement, the Ferdinand Community Center, and a 55-year member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124. He enjoyed playing cards, scrabble, bowling, yard work, gardening, and attending his grandchildren’s events and activities.

He is survived by two sons, Curt Lamkin and wife Donna, Ferdinand, and Kenny Lamkin and wife Judy, Huntingburg; two daughters, Nancy Jackson, Ferdinand, and Susie Scherzer and husband Terry, St. Meinrad; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by son-in-law Kenny A. Jackson.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites.
