Harvey Lee Gray, 91, Huntingburg

Harvey Lee Gray, 91, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday, September 4, at Life’s Journey Hospice House in Avon. He was born in Montgomery County September 1, 1928, to John L. and Harriet LaRue (Maguire) Gray. He married Luella Esther Matilda Schroeder June 30, 1951, at St. Paul’s Church in Holland. She died July 7, 2015.

Harvey was a 1946 graduate of Reelsville High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948 and worked at Public Service Indiana from 1950 to 1991. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Holland, the Masonic Lodge in Cloverdale, Holland American Legion Post 343, and the National Campers and Hikers Association for many years.

He is survived by two daughters, Lee Ann Gray, Cloverdale, and Ginger Ward, Sebastian, Florida; one son, Michael Gray and wife Sheila, Brownsburg; one brother, William Gray and wife Linda, Whitehouse, Tennessee; brother-in-law Tom Underwood, Coatesville; four grandchildren, Joe and wife Kaci, Nathan, Mahala and huband Jesse, and Eric; two step-grandchildren, Suzette and husband Tony and James and wife Tina; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Paige, and Briston; eight step-great-grandchildren, Aaron and husband Tyler, Morgan and husband Nick, Christian, Kassi, Gage, Nora, Shaffer, and Etta; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Owen and Clara and two more on the way.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Abby Underwood.

Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Paul Cemetery Fund. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. The Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in the charge of arrangements. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate at the service.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Holland American Legion memorial detail.
