Tuesday Sports Results

Dubois County (NNDC):   Tuesday night means a full slate of high school sports around the county.   A look at the results are listed below.

Volleyball

Loogootee 3 – Southridge 0 — 20-25, 11-25, 13-25

Jasper 3 – Mount Vernon 1 – 25-23, 19-25, 25-17, 25-20

In high school Volleyball from Tuesday night, the Southridge Raiders went head to head with a very tough Loogootee team.   The Raiders fought hard in the contest but it was the Lions who came away with the victory in straight sets.    In Varsity action, the host Lions earn a 20-25, 11-25 and 13-25 win over Southridge.   The leaders for Southridge include: Aces: Rose Tempel, Bailey Keusch and Savanah Goeppner each had 2, Digs: Titiana Delgado had 10 while Maddy Songer had 6 digs, Kills: Rose Tempel had 3 while Myah Montgomery and Bailey Keusch each had 2.   The Raiders were led in blocks by Myah Montgomery who had 5 and Bailey Keusch had 2.   Up next for Southridge is a Thursday road matchup with Springs Valley.

The JV Raiders also fell in two sets to Loogootee (17-25, 7-25).  Karly Barnett led the Raiders with 2 aces.

In a Big 8 matchup, The Jasper Wildcats defeated the Mount Vernon Wildcats in 4 sets.  Reagan Egbert pounded out 13 kills and added 20 digs, while Caroline Kaiser added 9 kills in the win.   Kayla Fuhs had 6 aces and 15 digs.  Kate Green added 3 aces and had 31 assists.   Jasper is now 6-3 on the season and will face the Washington Hatchets on Thursday night.

The Jasper JV Wildcats also picks up the win over Mount Vernon in straight sets.  Kennedy Matheis, Grace Kizior, Bailey Lents and Haley Love each had 3 kills in the win.  Kizior and Love also had 3 aces.  Aspen Sermersheim had 9 digs on the night.  Paige O’Neil and Grace Kisior both had 7 assists in the win.

Tell City 4 – Forest Park 3 (Boys)

Floyd Central 1 – Jasper 0 (Boys Varsity)

Floyd Central 4 – Jasper 1 (Boys Junior Varsity)

Floyd Central 8 – Jasper 2 (Girls Varsity)

Jasper 3 – Floyd Central 0 (Girls Junior Varsity)

The Forest Park Rangers traveled to Tell City for a conference matchup against the Marksman.   Tell City jumped out to the early lead 30 seconds into the game.   Three minutes later, the Marksman added another goal to go up 2-0.   The Rangers would score their first goal with a deflection off of a Tell City defender with JD Kerber being credited.  Forest Park tied the game in the second half when Tyler Berger scored on the assist from Conner Knies.   Tell City went up 3-2 before Evan Tretter assisted Zach Hopf to tie the game at 3.   Tell City would add another goal to earn the 4-3 win.  Sophomore Dylan Weyer played the entire game in goal for the Rangers.

Floyd Central hosted Jasper on Tuesday night and sent the Wildcats home scoreless.   The Highlanders found the net in the 17th minute for the games only goal.   Jasper’s tough defense kept the Cats in the game but offensively Jasper couldn’t break thru for a point.

Golf

Jasper 186, Forest Park 241, Tell City 252 (Girls Varsity)

Jasper hosted Forest Park and Tell City on Tuesday evening at Buffalo Trace.   The host Wildcats come away with the win while Forest Park finished in 2nd.   The medalist was Elizabeth Ackerman from Jasper as she shot a 42.   Other scores for Jasper and Forest Park include: (Jasper): Avery Bartley 47,  Ainsley Pierce 48,  Anna Schmitt 49,  Hillary Springer 50,  Haile Knies 51,  Allie Schnarr 53 and Emma Ruxer 56.  (Forest Park):  Maya Jones 56, Ella Borden 59,  Grace Wendholt 61,  Kaitlyn Seffernick 64,  Kelsie Jacob 65,  Grace Haas 65,  Alexis Lasher 66.
