Saturday Sports Results

Dubois County (NNDC):  A busy labor day weekend for area sports teams as volleyball and soccer took center stage.   A rundown of Saturdays action is listed below.

Volleyball

Jasper 2 – Christian Academy 0 — 25-19, 25-23 (Scottsburg Invitational)

Jasper 2 – Hauser 0 — 25-20, 25-20 (Scottsburg Invitational)

Jasper 2 – Scottsburg 0 — 25-18, 25-11 (Scottsburg Invitational)

Evansville North 2 – Jasper 1 — 23-25, 26-24, 16-14 (Jasper finished 2nd at the Scottsburg Invitational)

Southridge 2 – Perry Central 0 — 25-15, 25-12 (Perry Central Invitational)

Southridge 2 – Tell City 1 — 18-25, 25-19, 15-10 (Perry Central Invitational)

Henryville 2 – Southridge 1 — 24-26, 25-21, 12-15 (Perry Central Invitational)

 

In Scottsburg, the Jasper Wildcats had a successful tournament run and finished 2nd to eventual champion Evansville North.   The Lady Huskies defeated the Wildcats in 3 sets to claim the title.  Reagan Egbert paced Jasper with 42 kills on the day, while Allison Mair added 23 kills.  Egbert also led the team in digs with 34.   Jayden Pfister had 29 digs while Kayla Fuhs had 24.   Fuhs led the Wildcats with 8 aces.  Kate Green led the Jasper offense with 84 assists on the day.   Jasper is now 5-3 on the season and will travel to Mt. Vernon on Tuesday for Big 8 conference action.

The Southridge Raiders picked up a pair of wins at the Perry Central Invitational on Saturday.   The Raiders defeated Perry Central in straight sets and Tell City in 3 sets.  Southridge would fall to Henryville in a tough match 2 sets to 1.   Tournament leaders for the Raiders include: Digs: Rose Tempel 22 & Bailey Keusch 20, Aces: Bailey Keusch 9 with Maddy Songer and Tatiana Delgado with 5 each, Kills: Myah Montgomery with 15 and Anna Altstadt had 10, Blocks: Anna Altstadt had 8 blocks while Brenna Brosmer had 7, Assist leaders on the day were Maddy Songer with 22 and Savanah Goeppner had 21.   Southridge has a tough week ahead of them as they will hit the road to face Loogootee on Tuesday and Springs Valley on Thursday night.

The Southridge JV Raiders picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Henryville 25-17, 25-18.  The JV Raiders did lose two close matches this past weekend as Tell City won 20-25, 18-25 and Perry Central edged Southridge 23-25 and 21-25.   Leaders for the JV Raiders include: Aces: Karly Barnett 7, Kills: Karly Barnett 16, Assists: Ashlee Wahl 13 and Ally Buening 11.

Soccer

Jasper 6 – Mount Vernon 0

Forest Park 0 – Evansville Central 0

Evansville North 9 – Forest Park 1

The Jasper Wildcats travelled to Mount Vernon on Saturday for a Big 8 clash and come home with a 6-0 win.  Jasper scored 3 goals in each half for the victory.

The Forest Park Rangers was on the road to Evansville this past Saturday to face the North Huskies and the Central Bears.   In the first game, the Rangers and Evansville Central played to a 0-0 tie.   In game two, the Rangers fought tough early but lost goalie Zach Wahl twenty minutes in the first half to an injury.   Forest Park trailed 1-0 when Wahl was diving for a save and hit the post with his head.  Wahl was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he has been diagnosed with a mild concussion.   Evansville North would add 8 more goals to earn the 9-1 win over the Rangers.  Forest Park did pick up a goal in the 2nd half as Jake Dooley assisted senior Zach Hopf for the goal.
