Raiders and Rangers Pick Up Wins on Friday Night

Dubois County (NNDC):   A huge crowd saw the series finale between Jasper and Southridge on Friday night at Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium.   The back and forth battle was for bragging rights and most importantly, the Goal Posts Trophy.


Southridge 21 –  Jasper 17

Forest Park 30 – Perry Central 20

The Wildcats got on the board first when Joe Wood scored with 3:56 to go in the 1st quarter.   Southridge answered back on an 80 yard drive that saw Camden Gasser score tying up the game at 7.   Jasper would take a 17-14 lead into halftime but would be shutout in the 2nd half.   The Raiders took the lead for good late in the 3rd quarter when Cole Calvert rushed for 8 yards for the TD.   The Raiders defense held tough which allowed Southridge to hold on to the 21-17 lead and eventual win.

With the win, Southridge is now 2-0 on the season while Jasper falls to 0-2.   The Raiders will open up PAC play next Friday night against Forest Park while Jasper will face Boonville in Big Eight Conference play.

The Forest Park Rangers pick up their first win on the 2019 campaign as they get past Perry Central 30-20.   The Commodores scored first and took a 7-0 lead following a turnover by the Rangers in the 1st quarter.    Forest Park tied the game at 7 at the end of the 1st quarter when Drew Day scampered into the end zone.   Perry Central scored another TD in the 2nd quarter while the Rangers picked up a pair of field goals giving the Commodores a 14-13 lead at halftime.

The 2nd half was dominated by the Rangers on both the offense and defense side of the ball.   Forest Park added 2 more touchdowns and a field goal while hold the Commodores to one touchdown in the 2nd half.   The Rangers earn their first win of the season 30-20.   With the win, Forest Park is 1-1 on the season and travel to Southridge next Friday.
