Paul G. Bailey, 91, Stendal

Paul G. Bailey, 91, of Stendal, died Thursday, August 15, at Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Stendal May 6, 1928, to Alvey and Estella (Shorde) Bailey. He married Ruth M. Roettger June 30, 1950, in Stendal. She died January 4, 2013.

Paul was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal; He was employed as a woodworking craftsman in a furniture factory. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Germany following World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Bailey and wife Patty, Jasper, and Randy Bailey and wife Sandy, Petersburg; four granddaughters, Tonya Walton and husband Brady and Tracy Bailey, all of Jasper, Kimberly Shoultz and husband Cody, Petersburg, and Skyla Melhiser and husband Luke, Winslow; and one grandson, Eric Bailey, Jasper; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Peter’s Church. Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Church. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at noon Saturday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery along with military graveside rites. Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the funeral.
