Joanne D. Blocker, 91, Huntingburg

Joanne D. Blocker, 91, of Huntingburg, died Monday, August 12, at her home. She was born in Huntingburg July 16, 1928, to Marion and Lillian (McMillen) Dearing.

Joanne was a factory worker and a member of Salem United Church of Christ, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3335 Auxiliary, and past president of the VFW Post 2366 Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, Darin S. Kemp, Huntingburg; one daughter-in-law, Amy D. Blocker, Huntingburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Randall L. Kemp and Dereck W. Blocker, three brothers, Jack, Jerome, and Ralph “Bud’ Dearing, and five sisters, Jean Ingle, Fern and Dede Tanner, Nancy Meyer, and Janice Oser.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Nass and Son Funeral Home. A VFW. Auxiliary vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark McDaniel will officiate at the service.
