Paul I. Underwood, 71, Huntingburg

Paul I. Underwood, 71, of Huntingburg, died Sunday, April 11, at his home.   He was born in Huntingburg January 7, 1948, to Irvin and Helen [Freidman] Underwood.

Paul worked as a warehouse supervisor. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Huntingburg VFW Post 2366, Jasper American Legion Post 147, and the Huntingburg Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Eckstein) Underwood; one son, Chris Underwood and wife Evie, Jasper; two daughters, Nicole (Brent) Baer and husband Brent, Indianapolis, and Jennifer Matheis, Jasper; one sister, Diane Rothrock, Jasper; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Ann Cherry, one brother, Kenneth Underwood, and one grandson, Jackson Paul Underwood.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil, led by Deacon Tom Holsworth, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand. The VFW Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.
