Charles L. “Charlie” Berg, 72, St. Anthony

Charles L. ” Charlie” Berg, 72, of St. Anthony, died Friday, August 9, at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in St. Anthony September 1, 1946, to Clarence and Frieda (Schnell) Berg. He married Eloise R. Hopster July 2, 1966, at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  She died October 4, 2018.

Charlie was co-owner and operator of Berg’s Garage in St. Anthony for many years. He was a ember of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Catholic Church and the St. Anthony Conservation Club, where he served as a past treasurer.He enjoyed his career, spending time at his cabin, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by two daughters, Shelly Wilgus and husband Ron and Kristy Bayer and husband Brian, all of Schnellville; four grandchildren, Kyle and Jared Wilgus and Trent and Taylor Bayer; one sister, Mary Frey, St. Anthony; and two brothers, Larry Berg and wife Alene and Thomas Berg and wife June, all of St. Anthony.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Ann Berg, and one brother, Richard Berg.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Divine Mercy Parish or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.
