Dubois County Bombers Finish 2019 Season with Loss in Bluegrass World Series

Louisville (NNDC):  The Hattiesburg Black Sox were hitting on all cylinders  Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Dubois County Bombers 13-3.   With the loss, the Bombers wrap up their 2019 season.

The Black Sox opened up the scoring as they plated 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning.   Jordan Worsham and  Trey Jones singled to open up the bottom of the first and came around to score on a double to centerfield by Beau Wallace.  Hattiesburg added 5 more in the bottom of the 2nd to put the game out of reach.

The Bombers tried chipping their way back into the ballgame but the Black Sox always had an answer.  Bryson McNay earned a walk in the 3rd inning and would eventually come around to score.   Hattiesburg bounced back in the bottom half of the 3rd inning as they had two more runners cross the plate.

Chase Hug and McNay singled and scored in the top of the 5th inning but Dubois County was unable to get more runs to cross the plate.   Hattiesburg added two more in the 5th and one in the 6th giving them a 13-3 lead.   The Bombers were unable to score in the top of the 7th which allowed the Black Sox to earn the win.

Alex Franklin took the loss for Dubois County.  He went 1 2/3 innings, allowing 8 runs on 7 hits and striking out one.  Matt Ellis led the Bombers with 2 hits in his 3 at bats.

The defending Bluegrass World Series Champions Dubois County Bombers ended this years tournament with a 1-2 record.   The Bombers defeated the Owensboro RiverDawgs on Wednesday by the score of 9-6 and lost to the Louisville Stars 6-2 on Friday.
