Bombers Fall to Stars in Bluegrass World Series

Louisville (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers ran into a buzz saw at Slugger Field on Friday night as they went head to head with former MLB stars at Slugger Field in Louisville.

The game was tight throughout before the Louisville Stars pulled away for a 6-2 win.  The Stars took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Chris Snyder singled on a 2-0 count to score former Arizona Diamondback Chad Tracy.   The game remained tight until the bottom of the 6th when the former major leaguers plated 2 more runs.   Chris Dickerson hit a two run shot over the right/center field fence giving the Stars a 3-0 lead.

Dubois County gave up another run in the 7th and two more in the 8th inning to fall behind 6-0.  Dubois County got on the board in the top of the 9th when Tyler Van Pelt and Adam Hedinger came around to score on a double by Matt Joslin.   The Bombers would not score again and fall for the first time in the tournament 6-2.

Benton McGill took the loss on the mound for the Bombers.  He pitched one inning, allowed two hits and one run while striking out one.   Devin Morris started the game for Dubois County.   Chase Hug led the Bombers with two hits in his four at bats.

Up next for the Bombers is a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Hattiesburg Black Sox.   Game time is set for 2pm.
