Hilbert “Hopper” Gogel, 59, Mariah Hill

Hilbert “Hopper” Gogel, 59, of Mariah Hill, died Saturday August 3, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg November 4, 1959, to Leo J. and Edwina (Schipp) Gogel. He married Angie DeMuth September 28, 1985, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

Hilbert was a truck driver for Winkler Wholesale. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mary Help Of Christians Church in St. Meinrad and enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Gogel; one daughter, Jenna Rickenbaugh and husband Tyler, Newburgh; three sons, Heath (Krista) Gogel and wife Krista, Holland, Lance Gogel, Huntingburg, and Trent Gogel and wife Emily, Ferdinand; three grandchildren, Jace, Claire, and Luke Gogel; five brothers, Pat Gogel and wife Cindy, Leon Gogel and wife Debbie, and Eddie Joe Gogel and wife Sherry, all of Dale, Marty Gogel and wife Sharon, Huntingburg, and Chris Gogel and wife Debbie, LaGrange, Georgia; and eight sisters, Doris Krutz, Evanston, Barb Wissel and husband Bill and Stella Miles and husband Mike, all of Huntingburg; Katie Fleck, Jasper, Norma Kress, Santa Claus, Wanda Luebbehusen and husband Bob, Dale, Helen Riley and husband Darrell, St. Croix, and Paula Brumitt and husband Tim, Evansville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Gogel.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. (CT) Tuesday and from 7-9:30 a.m. (CT) Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. (CT) Wednesday at Mary Help Of Christians Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
