Bombers Fall to the Hoptown Hoppers in OVL Championship Series

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers magical run through the Ohio Valley League post season came to an end on Saturday night at League Stadium.   In a game seen here on NNDC, the Hoptown Hoppers opened up a 2 run lead in the top of the second and never looked back.    The Bombers outhit the Hoppers 11-10 but 3 errors by Dubois County proved to be to much to overcome.    Hoptown claims the OVL Tournament Championship with a 10-3 victory over the Bombers.

Dubois County scored one run in each of the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings.    Chase Hug singled and scored in the 3rd and 5th inning while Matt Joslin doubled and scored in the 4th.   Dubois County had 11 hits in the game while giving up 10.   Chase Hug, Tyler Best and Zuriel Collins had 2 hits apiece while Easton Stewart went 3-4 at the plate.    Joslin and Benji Brokemond each had doubles for the Bombers.

Samuel Steimel took the loss for the Bombers.   He went 5 innings, allowed 5 hits and 6 runs while striking out 2.   With the loss, Dubois County will now gear up for the Bluegrass World Series in Louisville, KY.    The Bombers are defending champions of that tournament which will also feature a team comprised of former Major League players.   Dubois County will open up play in the Bluegrass World Series on Wednesday August 7th at 3:30pm as they’ll face the Owensboro RiverDawgs.   The Bombers will play the Louisville Stars on Thursday at 6:30pm.   The Stars are made up of MLB stars including Johnny Damon, Brad Wilkerson and Glendon Rusch.
