Linus R. Schnarr, 79, Ireland

Linus R. Schnarr, 79, of Ireland, died Wednesday, July 31, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Boone Township July 1, 1940, to Philip and Barbara (Baer) Schnarr. He married Sue Nigg November 6, 1965, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boone Township.

Linus attended Boone Township Grade School and graduated from Ireland High School in 1958. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country as a member of the 324th MP unit. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Church, the Ireland Sportsman Club, and a 30-plus year member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He dedicated most of his life to farming and spent 33 years as a sales agent for Moorman’s Mfg./ADM Alliance Nutrition. While in sales he supported 4-H in Dubois, Orange, and Gibson counties. He enjoyed supporting 4-H participants and seeing them learn and succeed in their livestock entries. He also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Indiana University basketball, playing cards, gardening, and watching his grandchildren participate in school and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue Schnarr; one daughter, Pam Patterson and husband Aaron, Ireland; two grandchildren, Kylie and Caleb; and one sister, Joan Bauer, Jasper.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Freyberger.

Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Northside Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. John’s Church or the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev. Timothy Kraemer will officiate.
