Bombers Down Henderson Flash in Game One of OVL Eastern Division Finals

Henderson (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers opened up the OVL Eastern Division finals with a 15-6 win in Henderson.   Dubois County struck first when Benji Brokemond singled to open the game and came around to score as the Flash were turning a double play on the Bombers.

Henderson bounced back in the bottom half of the frame when Bryce Thomas doubled to right/center.   Thomas would come around to score on a Trey Hutchison single to right field.

The Bombers plated 3 more in the top half of the 3rd inning.   Brokemond  and Easton Stewart reached base on singles and came around to score when Tyler Best hit a 3 run shot over the right/center field fence giving Dubois County the 4-1 lead.  Henderson added 2 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd to pull within a run.   Dubois County pulled away in the 6th as they plated 5 runs.   The Bombers opened up the 6th with 4 straight hits including a base clearing double by Bryson McNay.   He would also come around to score as would Brokemond giving Dubois County a 9-3 lead.

The basepaths remained busy as Dubois County added 6 more runs in the 8th inning to put the game out of reach.   In the inning, Tyler Van Pelt hit a grand slam which scored Hug, Best and Matt Ellis.   Brokemond and McNay also scored in the 8th.

Cal Krueger picked up the win on the mound for the Bombers.   In 6 innings, he had 4 strikeouts, allowed 1 walk and 3 runs.    Dubois County had 17 hits in the game, including doubles by Chase Hug and Bryson McNay (2).  Tyler Best and Tyler Van Pelt had homeruns for the Bombers.

The Bombers return to League Stadium at 7pm on Tuesday night as they host Henderson in game 2 of the OVL Eastern Division Championship.    The winner of the best of 3 series will advance to the OVL Finals.
