Dubois County Bombers Advance to OVL Eastern Division Finals

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers dominated a very tough Owensboro RiverDawgs team in the OVL Semi-Finals as the Bombers picked up a 14-4 win in game two which earns them a spot in the OVL Eastern Division Finals. Dubois County defeated Owensboro 15-1 on Friday night as the Bombers pitching stifled the RiverDawgs in the post season, while the offense was blazing hot.

Dubois County got on the board first in the bottom half of the opening frame when Matt Ellis picked up an RBI on a ground out to 2nd.   Benji Brokemond scored on the play after reaching base earlier in the inning after being hit by the pitch.  Owensboro rebounded and tied the game up when Josh Bennett came in to score on a Tarron Lawson single to right field.    The RiverDawgs took the lead in the top of the third when Kirk Liebert came around to score.

Dubois County retook the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd when 6 Bombers crossed the plate.   Owensboro gave up 5 walks in the inning and allowed Dubois County to take advantage.   Chase Hug, Tyler Best, Bryson McNay, Matt Joslin, Zuriel Collins and Marcus Hill all came around to score in the inning.   The Bombers allowed 2 more Owensboro runs to score in the top half of the 4th but Dubois County put the game away in the bottom half as 6 more runs crossed the plate for the Bombers.  Matt Ellis, Tyler Van Pelt, McNay, Joslin, Hill and Brokemond scored for Dubois County in the inning giving them a 13-4 advantage.

The Bombers added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th when Hug scored on an Owensboro error.    Dubois County  held the RiverDawgs scoreless in the top of the 7th and earn the 14-4, seven inning win.

Chase Hug picked up the win on the mound for Dubois County.   Hug allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings while striking out two.

The Bombers had 10 hits in the game including multiple hits from Hug, Best and Collins.  Brokemond added a triple in the win.

Up next for the Dubois County Bombers is the OVL Eastern Division finals where they will face the Henderson Flash.   Henderson reached the Division Finals with a two game sweep of the Franklin Duelers.   Game one of the best of three series will take place on Monday night in Henderson with first pitch set for 8pm Eastern..   The Bombers will host the Flash on Tuesday night at League Stadium in Game 2 and the two teams will face off at Henderson on Wednesday if a game 3 is needed.
