Bombers Win Game 1 over Owensboro in OVL Playoffs

Owensboro (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers exploded for 15 runs in the opening game of the OVL Eastern Division Playoffs with Owensboro.

The Bombers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Benji Brokemond scored on a Matt Ellis RBI single to left/center field.  Brokemond had reached base earlier in the inning with a single to left.   The RiverDawgs would strike back in the bottom half of the inning to knot the game up at 1 on an Ian Ellis RBI single.

The Bombers added 2 more runs in the 3rd and never looked back.   Dubois County added another run in the 4th, 6 runs in the 5th inning, 1 in the 6th and 4 more in the 7th to put the game out of reach.   The game was called after the 7th innings based on the run rule as Owensboro had no answer to the Bombers pitching.

Patrick Queener was the winning pitcher for Dubois County.   He went 7 innings, allowed 7 hits and 1 run while striking out 4.   Dubois County saw the ball well on Friday night as they racked up 13 hits in their 15-1 victory.

Brokemond went 5 for 5 on the night including 2 doubles for the Bombers.  Tyler Best had a triple and a single while Britton Graham added a pair of hits in the win.

The same two teams face off tonight (Saturday) at League Stadium.   Game time is 7pm with gates opening at 6pm.
