Child Abuse Arrest

Dubois County (NNDC):

On May 17th, 2019, JPD began an investigation that ultimately led to the arrest on May 21st, 2019 of Dexter Hensley charging him with Child Molesting and Sexual Battery.

The offenses are believedto have occurred 3 -5 years ago. As a result of the investigation JPD, found that Howard Geck was notified about the allegations approximately 2 years ago. By Indiana State Law, an individual who has reason to believe that a child is a
victim of child abuse or neglect SHALL immediately, make a report with the Department of Children Services and/ or
the local law enforcement agency. Mr. Geck failed to make a report with DCS or Law enforcement. Mr. Geck has
been formally charged with Failure to Make a Report which is a Class B Misdemeanor.

In an attempt to encourage reporting of child abuse and to educate the public on their legal duty, the Dubois Co.
Prosecutor’s Office is currently offering amnesty to anyone who has previously failed to report regardless of how long
ago the abuse may have occurred. The amnesty program runs until July 31st, 2019. The Prosecutor’s Office and local
law enforcement agencies remind the citizens of Dubois county that we all have an obligation to report abuse and
provide victims with the opportunity to receive services and to help prevent further abuse.
