Bombers Fall to the Hoppers on Sunday

Huntingburg (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers dropped the final game of the weekend homestand to the visiting Hoptown Hoppers 7-4.   The Bombers opened up the game with 3 runs in the bottom half of the first inning.    Tyler Best singled to right center and came around to score on a Matt Ellis double to left field.   Tyler Van Pelt also scored in the inning after reaching on a walk.   Southridge grad and Indiana University recruit Tucker Schank sent an RBI single to left which scored Britton Graham who had also singled in the inning.   The Bombers led 3-0 after the first.

Hoptown plated 2 runs in the second and 1 in the third to tie the game.   The Hoppers would take the lead for good in the 5th inning when Seth Bennett singled and scored giving Hoptown the 4-3 lead.  Hoptown added 2 more runs in the 6th and one in the 7th to put the game away.   The Bombers added a run in the bottom half of the 7th but it was not enough as the Hoppers defeat the Bombers 7-4.

Chase Hug took the loss for Dubois County.  He surrendered three runs on three hits over two innings, striking out 2.   The Bombers had 8 hits in the game including Ellis who led the Bombers with 2 hits in his 4 at bats.  Schank went 1 for 4 at the plate and had 2 RBI’s in the loss.

Up next for Dubois County is a Tuesday evening matchup with Fulton.  Game time is set for 7pm at League Stadium.   It’s also Let’s Make a Bombers Deal night at the ball park.
