David R. Ziliak, 81, Ferdinand

David R. Ziliak, 81, Ferdinand, died Thursday, July 11th. He was born December 25, 1937 in Gibson County to John and Mildred (Zehner) Ziliak. He married Karleen Feldhaus May 3, 1958 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She died January 20, 1989. He then married Mary Fischer Blessinger November 24, 1990 in the Convent of Immaculate Conception. He was retired from Whirlpool and the United States Navy. He was a Navy Seabee from 1955 to 1989. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church. He belonged to Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, Haubstadt Knights of Columbus, Seabee Veterans of America, Jasper Moose Lodge, and St. Joseph Sodality. He was a lifetime member of the Ferdinand Community Center.  

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ziliak of Ferdinand; two sons, Brian Ziliak and wife, Angela, and Bret T. Ziliak all of Evansville; one stepson, Brian J. Blessinger and wife, Jennie, of Ferdinand; three step-daughters, Sandy Morton and husband, Mark, of Jasper, Debra Gogel and husband, Leon, of Dale and Lana Tobin of Ferdinand; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, Karleen, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Hafler and a brother, Donald Ziliak.

Friends may call Monday from 2-8:00 PM and Tuesday from 7-9:30 AM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Memorial contributions may be made to Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Maintenance Fund or the St. Ferdinand Church Cemetery Fund. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rights.
