Bombers Fall at Henderson in 15 Innings, Return to League Stadium for Weekend Homestand

Henderson (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers wrapped up a 4 game road trip on Thursday night as they visited Henderson.   It took 15 innings, but Henderson walked away with the win 12-11.

The Bombers jumped out on top early as Evan Kahre and Tyler Best crossed the plate in the top of the first, giving Dubois County a 2-0 lead after one inning.  The Flash picked up 3 runs in the 2nd and another in the 3rd inning to take a 4-2 lead.   The Bombers bounced back with a big 5 run fourth inning.  Tyler Van Pelt reached base on an error to lead off the inning, Bryson McNay reached on a single to left, Zuriel Collins doubled to right, Evan Kahre doubled to left and Tyler Best singled up the middle.   All 5 would come around to score giving Dubois County a 7-4 lead.

The Bombers added another run in the 5th as Van Pelt reached base on a walk.  He would come around to score later in the inning when Collins reached on an error.  Dubois County added 3 more runs in the 7th inning when Van Pelt, McNay and Kahre scored for the Bombers giving them an 11-4 lead.   Henderson fought their way back into the game by picking up a pair of runs in the 7th and 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie it up.

Both teams remained scoreless in extra innings until Henderson was able to get one run across the plate giving them the win.   Charlie Mooneyham opened up the bottom of the 15th with a walk.  He would steal 2nd base, advanced to 3rd on a single by Austin Domer to left field.  Mooneyham would come around to score when Trey Hutchison sent a fly ball to left field.  Mooneyham’s run would give the Flash a 12-11, 15 inning win.

Benton McGill took the loss for Dubois County.  He went one and two-thirds innings allowing one run and one hit.

Up next for the Bombers is a 3 game homestand as Franklin visits League Stadium on Friday night,  Owensboro comes to town on Saturday and Hoptown rounds out the weekend with a Sunday night contest.   The Hagedorn Family Band will perform on Friday, the Belles will play the Peaches on Saturday at 5:15pm as League Stadium will be celebrating 125 years.  Bring the family and have your picture taken with the Peaches, Belles and Bombers from 4:30pm-5:00pm.   Sunday, it’s Winner Winner Chicken Dinner night at the ballpark and Colts in Motion will be at League Stadium from 4pm-6pm.
