Carla C. Hoffmann, 76, Loogootee

Carla C. Hoffmann, 76, of Loogootee, died Thursday, July 4, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper January 28, 1943, to Martin and Viola (Poe) Schiller. She married Robert Hoffmann October 20, 1962, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville.

Carla was a 1961 graduate of Dubois High School. She worked as a secretary for Jasper Rubber Products for six years and for the Daviess-Martin County REMC where she did meter reading for 22 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville where she taught Sunday school for many years, WELCA of Christ Church, and Loogootee –Shoals Tri-Kapa where she served on many committees, and she did a lot of volunteer work for local nursing homes and funeral bereavement dinners.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Hoffmann; two daughters, Elizabeth Raney and husband Jeff,  Alfordsville, and Mary Baker and husband Ken, Bedford; one son, David Hoffman and wife Emily, Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Kierstin, and Kennedy; three step grandchildren, Alexia, Kennedy, and Jace; two sisters, Gerry Burton, Bardstown, Kentucky, and Sharon Hoffman and husband Nelson, Jasper; one sister, Joan Freyberger-Harker, Loogootee; and two two step brothers, Lowell Dorsam and wife Sue, and Russell Dorsam, all of Haysville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruthann Stahl.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. An American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m., a Women of Moose Lodge 1175 memorial service at 6:15, and a WELCA memorial service at 6:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in the Haysville Community Cemetery.
