Bombers Drop Two to Owensboro on the Road

Owensboro (NNDC):  The Dubois County Bombers dropped both games of a Saturday doubleheader with the Owensboro RiverDawgs.   Dubois County jumped out to a 3-0 after one before adding another run in the 4th inning.   Owensboro plated 3 in the bottom of the 4th pulling with 1.   The high scoring contest saw the RiverDawgs add runs in the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings to pull out the victory.  The game was tied after 7 pushing the matchup into extra innings.    The Bombers scored one run in the 8th, which was matched by Owensboro in the bottom half of the inning.   Dubois County tried closing it out in the 9th by plating another run as Benji Brokemond crossed the plate, but the RiverDawgs scored 2 in the bottom of the inning giving them the 8-7 win.

Devin Morris took the loss for Dubois County.   Morris pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing two hits and two runs.   Dubois County had 10 hits in the game and was led by Bryson McNay who went 3-3 at the plate.  Britton Graham also had a multi-hit day as he went 2-4.

It was all Owensboro in game 2 as the RiverDawgs routed the Bombers 11-3.  Dubois County had 5 hits in the game and scored runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th inning.   The Bombers had two hitters go deep as Chase Hug hit a solo shot in the 2nd inning and Tyler Van Pelt hit a home run in the 3rd.

Benton McGill took the loss on the hill for Dubois County.  He surrendered 4 runs on 6 hits while striking out 4 over 3 innings. With the loss, the Bombers are now 9-9 on the season and continue their road trip on Sunday as they face Fulton in a doubleheader.   Dubois County will travel to Hoptown on Tuesday for yet another doubleheader.    Dubois County returns home on Wednesday and Thursday as they host Franklin on Wednesday and Hoptown visits League Stadium for the huge 4th of July contest with fireworks to follow.
