Antoinette “Toni” Gogel, 85, Dale

Antoinette “Toni” Gogel, 85, of Dale, died Thursday, June 27, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Tell City March 18, 1934, to Sylvester and Nettie (Goffinet) Harpenau. She married Robert Gogel April 11, 1953, at St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He died February 15, 2012.

Toni was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill and its Ladies Sodality. She played the church organ for 43 years. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and making beautiful crafts. She was a former member of the House Kats band and was a school bus driver for 24 years.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald Gogel and wife Patty and Michael J. Gogel and wife Brenda, all of Mariah Hill, and Leonard Gogel, St. Meinrad; four daughters, Kathy Meyer and husband Gary, Ferdinand, Joanie Wening and husband Brent, Portersville, Martha Varner and husband Dirk, Grandview, and Donna Lee and husband Scott, Mariah Hill; five brothers, Paul Louis Harpenau and wife Marilyn and Carroll Harpenau and wife Harriet, all of Louisville, Ted Harpenau and wife Carol, Greenwood, Ray Harpenau and wife Sadie, Huntingburg, and Gene Harpenau and wife Karen, St. Anthony; one sister, Rita Phillips and husband Jan, St. Meinrad; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four step-greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandson, Josh Varner, one great-granddaughter, Vivian Varner, one brother, Bernard Harpenau, and one sister, Joan Lee Harpenau.

Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. (CST) Monday and from 7-9:30 (CST) Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences can be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mary Help of Christians Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
