Jasper Reds to Play in National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita Kansas

Jasper (NNDC):   The Jasper Reds were recently invited to participate in the National Baseball Congress World Series which takes place in Wichita Kansas.   This is the 85th year of the tournament which will be played at Eck Stadium beginning July 27th.   Eck Stadium is the home of the Wichita State Shockers.

The talent level at this event is very high and will feature Division 1 athletes, former MLB players along with top Junior College players from around the country.  Some notables who participated in previous years include the likes of Albert Pujols who at the time played for the Hays Larks.   Other MLB stars who have played over the years in the NBC World Series include Paul Goldenshmidt and Tim Lincencum.   Goldenshmidt who now plays for the St. Louis Cardinals participated in the tournament when he played for the Anchorage Bucs.   Lincencum played for the Seattle Studs in the NBC World Series.

The Jasper Reds received one of the three at-large bids in this years tournament.    Along with Jasper, teams from Canada, Alaska, Kansas, Colorado, California, Washington and Texas will be in Wichita.   The Reds also participated in 1993, 1994, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
