Mary Lou Buse, 86, Holland

Mary Lou Buse, 86, of Holland, died Monday, June 24, in a traffic accident south of Holland. She was born in Huntingburg July 9, 1932, to Oliver and Alice (Hemmer) Weitkamp. She married Edwin Buse October 5, 1952, at Zoar United Methodist Church.

Mary Lou was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Holland, where she was a member of the Women of the Word, a Sunday school teacher for many years, and helped with the nursery class. She worked in the Southwest Dubois County School Corporation in cafeteria for over 20 years and sold tickets and greeted people at the door at school sporting events. She enjoyed playing Rook and Rum and following her children and grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by one daughter, Bev Messmer and husband Kevin, Jasper; four sons,  of Jasper, IN; four sons, Michael Buse, Holland, Scott Buse and wife Katrina and Mark Buse and wife Stephanie, all of Jasper, and Brad Buse and wife Annette, Huntingburg; 11 grandhildren; Elizabeth, Abby, Sara, Alison, Derek, Makenzie, Jackson, Brandon, Blair, Bailey, and Brooklyn; two step-grandchildren, Derek and Sara; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Nass and So’n Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at St. James Church. Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Church. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in the church cemetery. Pastor David Darling will officiate at the services.
