Bombers Split Double Header with Madisonville

Huntingburg (NNDC): The Dubois County Bombers were in action on Thursday night at League Stadium as they hosted the Madisonville Miners in a double header.    The Bombers entered the night with a 6-6 record while Madisonville is 5-8 on the campaign.

GAME 1: The Bombers were flat offensively in game one as they tallied a total of 2 hits in the game.   Tyler Best and Tyler Van Pelt picked up one hit apiece in the loss.   One bright spot for the Bombers was the double by Best in the first inning.   The Miners picked up one run in each in the 2nd, 4th and 7th innings to pick up the 3-0 win over Dubois County.   Samuel Steimel took the loss on the mound for the Bombers after going 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 2 and walking 1.

GAME 2:  The 2nd game of the night saw the complete opposite of game one as it was the Bombers who dominated the Miners and pick up a 7-0 win.   Dubois County jumped out with 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning and would add 3 more in the 5th and 2  in the 6th inning to help secure the victory.

The Bombers opened up the scoring in the first when Matt Joslin singled on a 2-2, scoring Evan Kahre who had reached on a walk.  Marcus Hill would also come around to score after picking up a single earlier in the inning.  Dubois County notched 3 more runs in the fifth inning.  Tyler Best, Beji Brokmond and Jalen (JJ) Woolwine powered the big inning with RBI’s.  Benton McGill earned the win on the hill for the Bombers.  He went 7 innings, allowed 3 hits, no runs and had 6 strikeouts.   Dubois County had 7 hits in the game.  Marcus Hill, Matt Joslin and Austin Duffy collected a pair of hits for the Bombers.

Dubois County returns to action tonight (Friday) as they travel to Fulton.  The Bombers return home on Saturday as they host Hoptown.  The XPOGO stunt team will also perform on Saturday night.
