Purdue University and Senator Todd Young Offer Help to Local Farmers

Dubois County (NNDC):

Purdue University and Senator Todd Young are both allocating resources and political influence to help local farmers who are struggling with the recent rain and unavailable planting conditions. Many farmers are having to switch from corn planting to soybeans and wheat.

Adverse weather conditions have complicated the planting season and many Hoosier farmers are unable to get the seed in the earth.

Only about 30% of corn crop was planted locally compared to over 60% nationally. There is a disaster bill to help offset these losses, but it will not go far enough to fill the gap caused by the weather.
