Leander H. Kitten, 80, Ferdinand

Leander H. Kitten, 80, of Ferdinand, died Sunday, June 16, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Ferdinand May 13, 1939, to Anton and Emma (Horney) Kitten.

Leander, a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Lockheed Aerospace Corporation, Skunk Works Division. He was a member of Roadrunners Internationale, a group that preserves the history of the aviation pioneers and programs that developed the U-2, A-12, and YF-12 during the Cold War. He was a member of Christ the King Parish – St. Ferdinand Church and enjoyed genealogy and bicycling..

He is survived by his twin sister, Leona Schue, Ferdinand, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Albert, Leonard, and Ralph Kitten, and one sister, Mary, who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 8-9 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Church. Online condolences can be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com. Funeral services at 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military graveside rites will be conducted by Ferdinand Legion Post 124.
